Many generous donors establish scholarships in support of higher education in Central Louisiana. Three types of scholarships are available: Endowed Scholarships for First Generation Students, General Endowed Scholarships; and Un-endowed scholarships.     The scholarship shall be awarded to a student who is a Louisiana resident; is a "first-generation college student'', i.e., neither parent or legal guardian(s) have earned a college degree; has been awarded the federal Pell grant; be advancing his or her education in Theater, visual arts, creative writing, or language and is admitted and enrolled in LSUA. Student must maintain an overall grade point average of at least 2.5.

    The scholarship shall be awarded to a student who is a Louisiana resident; is a "first-generation college student", i.e., neither parent or legal guardian(s) have earned a college degree; has been awarded the federal Pell grant; be advancing his or her education in Allied Health and is admitted and enrolled in LSUA.
  • Virginia Harvey Holcombe Nursing Endowed Scholarship For First Generation Students

    The scholarship shall be awarded to a student who is a Louisiana resident; is a "first-generation college student", i.e., neither parent or legal guardian(s) have earned a college degree; has been awarded the federal Pell grant; be advancing his or her education in Nursing and is admitted and enrolled in LSUA.
  • Mary Jane Brown Endowed Scholarship for First Generation Students

    The scholarship will be awarded to a full-time African American student who has a 2.5 grade point average on work attempted. Consideration will be given to students with financial need.
  • Morris N. Abrams Memorial Scholarship

    The scholarship will be awarded annually to a full time LSUA student who is a legal dependent of full-time faculty or staff members (active or retired).
  • Alexandria Exchangette Nursing Scholarship

    The scholarship will be awarded to a Nursing student who has shown academic ability and financial need. Preference will be given to an LPN who is a single parent returning to school. The recipient must have earned at least 10 semester hours of credit in college and be in good academic standing.
  • Barbara Rothschild Allen Psychology Scholarship

    The scholarship shall be awarded to as student majoring in psychology who have overall GPA of at least a 3.0. The student should be selected at the end of junior year of study and shall receive the scholarship for up to two consecutive semesters.
  • Thomas T. Allen and Barbara R. Allen Scholarship

    The scholarship shall be awarded to a student majoring in education and obtained at least 60 credit hours with a 3.0 GPA. Preference to single parents.
  • Homer D. Barber Endowed Scholarship

    Scholarship will be awarded with consideration to the following: Preference is given to an entering student who has lived in a rural community or has an interest in pursing ranching or agricultural careers; demonstrated volunteer involvement at their current school or in their community. Must be enrolled in and complete a minimum of 12 semester hours each semester. Must have minimum GPA of 2.5 or high school equivalent if a first-time LSUA student. Recipient will receive a seonc semester award in the spring if he/she achieves or exceeds a 2.85 GPA.
  • Bernard Bindursky/Leonard Fuhrer Memorial Scholarship

    The scholarship shall be awarded to a full-time student majoring in criminal justice or theater who has an overall GPA of 2.5.
  • The Jackie Hubley Blanda Memorial Scholarship

    The scholarship will awarded annually to an outstanding student who shown academic ability and financial need.
  • Elizabeth M. Bolton Art Scholarship

    This award shall be awarded to a student who has completed at least two courses in fine arts from LSUA.
  • Frances Sample Bolton Scholarship

    The scholarship will be awarded to an entering freshman who has shown academic ability and financial need. The recipient shall have achieved at least a 3.0 high school GPA.
  • James C. Bolton Memorial Scholarship

    The scholarship recipient must be enrolled in the Business, have a 2.5 GPA and completed a minimum of 55 semester hours.
  • Lacy G. Bordelon Kiwanis Scholarship

    This scholarship will be awarded to an entering freshman who has shown academic ability, has financial need, and a graduate of a Rapides Parish high school. Preference will be given to Key Club member and to children, grandchildren of members of the Kiwanis Club of Alexandria.
  • L H Bossier Scholarship Fund

    The scholarship will be awarded to an entering freshman who has shown academic ability and financial need. The recipient shall be a graduate of a Rapides Parish high school and have at least a 3.0 high school GPA.
  • Mr. & Mrs. W. W. Bossier Memorial Scholarship

    The recipient shall be a graduate with a minimum 3.0 GPA from a Rapides Parish high school and has financial needs.
  • The Lyle E. Brumfield Scholarship

    The scholarship will be awarded on a semester basis beginning with the fall to a full-time female student whose education has been previously interrupted for one reason or another.
  • John H. Cade, Jr. Memorial Scholarship

    This scholarship will be awarded to an entering freshman who has shown academic ability and financial need.
  • Barbara Brumfield Caffey Scholarship

    The scholarship shall be awarded to a child of current, retired, or deceased LSUA faculty and staff whenever possible. The recipient shall have achieved at least a 2.5 high school GPA.
  • Jeremy E. "Jay" Carruth and David C. Ezernack Endowed Scholarship

    The scholarship shall be awarded to a student majoring in criminal justice who has an overall GPA of 2.5.

    The scholarship will be awarded to student who plans to enter the teaching profession. (education major)
  • Chancellor Robert Cavanaugh Endowed Scholarship

    The scholarship shall be awarded to a full-time student enrolled in a baccalaureate program at LSUA who has an overall GPA of at least 2.5.
  • Central Louisiana Advertising Club Scholarship

    The scholarship will be awarded to a student who has shown academic ability and has financial needs. Students with a high school final GPA of 3.0 and seek a career in adverting and who have declared major of Marketing/Public Relations or Communications are eligible.
  • The Central Louisiana Chapter of the American Institute of Banking Scholarship

    The scholarship will be awarded to a student enrolling in the Business Administration curriculum who has shown academic ability and financial need. Preference will be given to the student who is not receiving financial assistance through other university and/or government programs.
  • Central Louisiana Sheep Association Scholarship

    Scholarship will be awarded annually. The recipient shall be a full-time student majoring in an agricultural field and have a minimum of a 2.0 overall grade point average on at least 24 hours. Additionally, the recipient shall have at least a 2.5 grade point average on all agricultural courses pursued. Financial need will be a determining factor.

    The scholarship shall be awarded to a student who has shown academic ability and financial need. The recipient shall have achieve at least a 3.0 high school GPA.
  • CLECO Endowed Scholarship

    The scholarship will be awarded to an entering freshman who has shown academic ability and financial need. The recipient shall have achieved at least a 3.0 high school GPA. The student preferably should be in a business related major and be a resident of one of the parishes the CLECO serves.

    The scholarship will be awarded to an entering freshman in Nursing who has shown academic ability and financial need.
  • Crossroads Regional Hospital Scholarship

    The scholarship will be awarded to a Nursing student who has shown academic ability and financial need. The recipient must have earned at least 30 semester hours of college credit and be in academic standing.

    The scholarship shall be awarded to nursing student who have shown academic excellence.
  • Helen S. Gault Memorial Scholarship

    The scholarship will be awarded to a student enrolled in the nursing program.
  • Robertson L. Gilliland Memorial Scholarship

    The scholarship will be awarded to an outstanding high school senior who will be classified as an incoming freshman attending LSUA. Students who have shown academic ability, participation in student activities/honors/offices and have financial need.
  • The Irving and Lillie Goldstein Memorial Scholarship

    The scholarship will be awarded to sophomore in Business who has shown academic ability and financial need. The recipient shall have achieved at least a 3.0 GPA. Preference for those individuals who do not meet eligibility requirements to receive other university or federal assistance.
  • Helen, Shick and Doug Gormanous Memorial Scholarship

    The recipient must be involved or intend to become involved in the LSUA Catholic Student Organization; must be enrolled as a full-time student at LSUA; must have earned a minimum grade point average of 2.0 in English, Math, Natural Sciences, and Social Science courses in high school and if applicable, college.; must exhibit some potential for academic success as indicated by average or above average college admission test scores.

    The recipient must be a part time or full time employee and enrolled at LSUA and have maintained a 2.0 GPA.
  • McDonald Kirby Guy Memorial Scholarship

    The scholarship shall be awarded to a student who is a graduate of Glenmora High School or Forest Hill Academy with at least a 3.0 GPA. Preference will be given to students majoring in pre-medicine area of study. If no pre-med qualified recipients then nursing or any health related major.
  • Dr. Alvin H. Honigman Memorial Scholarship in Nursing

    The scholarship shall be awarded to a student seeking an Associate degree in nursing. The scholarship shall be reserved for those students who have been accepted in to the nursing program.
  • Mark E. Howard Endowed Scholarship in Biology

    The scholarship shall be awarded to a full time student majoring in biology who has an overall GPA of at least 2.5.
  • Nancy Huey Nursing Scholarship

    The scholarship shall be awarded to a student who has earned an overall high school grade point average of 3.4 or better or a college average of 3.2 or better. The student must be fulltime and majoring in nursing.
  • Huie Dellmon Trust Scholarship Fund

    The Huie Dellmon Trust Scholarship will be awarded to a student seeking an associate degree I the Division of Nursing at LSUA who are currently enrolled in clinical nursing courses. The scholarship shall be reserve for those individuals who do not meet eligibility requirements to receive federal assistance.

    The scholarship will awarded to a student has graduated from high school with at least a 2.5 GPA or is a continuing full time college student who has earned at least a 2.5 GPA.

    The scholarship will awarded to a student has graduated from high school with at least a 2.5 GPA or is a continuing full time college student who has earned at least a 2.5 GPA.
  • Penny Johnson Scholarship

    The scholarship shall be awarded to a student who is a graduate of Pine Prairie High School with at least a 3.5 GPA. Preference to students majoring in Education.
  • Kurfiss Family Scholarship Honoring Marion, Jack and Bette Kurfiss

    The scholarship shall be awarded to a full time student who has shown academic ability and financial need. The recipient shall have achieved at least a 3.0 high school GPA and maintain a 3.0 GPA in college. Preference to those majoring in Education.
  • Lucien P. and Peggy Laborde Endowed Scholarship

    The scholarship will be awarded annually to a student who has graduated from any high school in Avoyelles Parish, is a full time student with an overall 3.0 GPA.
  • Jimmy Lanius Memorial Scholarship

    The scholarship will be awarded to a student majoring in Accounting in the Division of Business at LSUA.
  • Francis L. Lavigne Memorial Scholarship

    The scholarship will be awarded to student who has a minimum 25 on ACT and has financial need.
  • The Malcolm and Jean Levy Nursing Scholarship

    The scholarship will be awarded to a nursing student who has shown academic ability and financial need. The recipient must have earned at least 10 semester hours of credit, be in good academic standing and be accepted into clinical nursing.
  • LSUA Ebony Endowment Scholarship

    The scholarship will be awarded to a high achieving African American student who has shown academic ability and financial need.
  • LSUA Silver Anniversary Endowed Scholarship

    The scholarship will be awarded to an entering freshman who has shown academic ability and financial need.
  • LSUA Student Nurses Association Scholarship

    The scholarship will be awarded to a student who is a member of the LSUA Student Nurses Association. The recipient must have earned at least a 2.5 GPA and be accepted into the LSUA Nursing Fundamentals.
  • Darrell Mabou Endowed Scholarship

    The scholarship will be awarded to a graduate of Buckeye High School who maintained at least a 2.0 gpa and is a full time LSUA student.
  • MacArthur Drive Lions Club Scholarship

    The scholarship will be awarded to a student is a full time (15 hrs required) freshman or sophomore at LSUA and has shown academic ability and financial need. Preference will be given to a student in Business, Science, or Education who not receiving financial assistance through other university and/or government programs.
  • C. O. and Elizabeth Magee Scholarship

    The scholarship will be awarded to a full time student who has shown academic ability and financial need. Interest in engineering.
  • The Wayne and Mary Malone Scholarship

    The scholarship will be awarded to a full time student at LSUA who has completed all developmental courses and has completed at least 15 hours of credit courses at LSUA with a 3.0 GPA or better. Preference should be given to Engineering, Mathematics, Elementary Education, Mathematics Education, Computer science.

    The scholarship shall be awarded to a female student seeking a degree in business administration who has an overall GPA of at least 2.5.

    The scholarship will be awarded to students who have demonstrated evidence of academic success and have unmet financial needs. Full time LSUA student in Math or Science with a 2.5 GPA or better.

    The scholarship shall be awarded to a full time LSUA student in Dept of Science at LSUA with a 2.0 GPA.
  • Richard McGinnis Endowed Scholarship in History

    The scholarship shall be awarded to a full time student enrolled at LSUA majoring in History; has financial need; and shows academic excellence.

    The scholarship will be awarded to a student majoring in nursing who has graduated from high school with at least a 3.0 GPA or is a full time continuing college student with at least a 3.0 GPA.

    The scholarship shall be awarded to a full time student majoring in speech or theater with at least a 2.5 GPA.
  • David A. Miller Memorial Scholarship

    The scholarship will be awarded to a student who has graduated from high school with at least a 2.5 GPA or is a continuing student with at least a 2.5 GPA.
  • William and Alice Mildred Morros Scholarship

    The scholarship shall be awarded to students who are resident of central Louisiana with a declared major in LSUA Nursing. Recipients of the scholarships must have demonstrated academic excellence and have unmet financial needs.
  • Anthony, Mary and Joe S. Mowad Memorial Scholarship

    The scholarship shall be awarded to a graduate of Oakdale High School who ad an overall GPA of 3.0 or better. Recipients must show academic excellence and have unmet financial needs.
  • Jerry Myrick Endowed Scholarship

    The scholarship will be awarded to a full time student who is a child or spouse of a current, retired or deceased LSUA faculty or staff member whenever possible. The recipient shall have achieve at least a 2.5 GPA.

    The scholarship shall be awarded to an LSUA student with an overall GPA of 2.5 or higher.
  • Elton Pody Scholarship in Business Administration

    The scholarship shall be awarded to a student admitted to a major within the Department of Business Administration who has an overall grade point average of at least 2.5. Preference will be given to students with no other grant or scholarship at the time of the award.

    The scholarship will be awarded to an entering freshman who has shown academic ability and financial need.
  • Helena Corrigan Ritter Scholarship

    The scholarship will be awarded to a full time nursing student who has a minimum composite score on ACT of 22 and has financial need.
  • John L. Ritter Scholarship

    The scholarship will be awarded to a full time nursing student who has a minimum composite score on ACT of 22 and has financial need. Have an interest in engineering.
  • George H. Rothschild, Sr. Business Administration Scholarship

    The scholarship will be awarded to a full time student at LSUA who has completed all developmental courses, and has completed at least 15 hours of credit courses at LSUA with a 3.0 or better GPA.
  • The Sagul Nursing Scholarship

    The scholarship shall be awarded to a student in the clinical nursing program who has: an overall grade point average of at least 2.5; Veteran of any branch the United States military with an honorable discharge; Current status in any branch of the Unites State military (Active or Reserve)
  • St. Frances Cabrini Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship

    The scholarship shall be awarded to a nursing student who has shown academic ability and financial need. The recipient shall have earned a minimum of 24 semester hours of college credit including successful completion of the LSUA Nursing Fundamentals class.
  • Gloria Bryant Shelby Scholarship

    The scholarship will be awarded to high school seniors who have maintained at least a 2.0 or higher GPA through mid-term of their senior year or continuing students that have an overall GPA of 2.0 on all prior college work. The student must have a declared major in Business or Science.
  • Wayne Shelby Scholarship

    Recipients of the scholarship must have demonstrated evidence of academic excellence, have unmet financial needs, declared major in Business and be full time students.
  • Noel T. Simmonds, M.D. Endowed Scholarship

    The scholarship will be awarded to a student who demonstrates superior academic ability with a 3.5 or better GPA, is a full time student, and has a declared major in pre-med, science or allied health.
  • Albert (Zig) Slayter Memorial Scholarship

    The recipient shall be a graduate with a minimum 2.5 GPA from Grant High School and has financial needs.

    This scholarship shall be awarded to a student who has graduated from high school with at least a 2.5 GPA, or earned a GED with a minimum 24 on the ACT, or is a continuing student with at least a 2.5 GPA. Priority given to Grant Parish residents.
  • Garry Tisdale Memorial Scholarship

    This scholarship will be awarded to a full time student who has graduated from high school with at least a 2.5 GPA, or has earned a GED with a minimum score of 20 on the ACT, or is a continuing college student with a least a 2.5 GPA. Priority given to students majoring in History.
  • The Samuel B. Thornton Memorial Scholarship

    The scholarship will be awarded to an entering full time freshman who has shown academic ability and has financial need.
  • Lavergne L. Turpin D. Merrick Turpin Endowed Scholarship

    The scholarship will be awarded annually to a student who has graduated from high school with at least a 2.5 grade point average, or has earned a GED with a minimum score of 19 on the ACT, or is a continuing college student who has earned at least a 2.S grade point average.
  • Voiture Local 309--40/8 Scholarship for Nursing

    The scholarship will be awarded to students who are pursuing a nursing degree at LSUA, exhibit academic ability and have a financial need. Preference may be given to dependents of Veterans.
  • Dr. D.V. Wells Endowed Scholarship

    The scholarship shall be awarded to a full time student enrolled in the Division of Sciences with at least a 2.5 GPA.
  • Doug Young Nursery Endowed Scholarship

    The scholarship shall be awarded to a full time student who is majoring in Science; has financial need and shows academic excellence. The donor prefers that a student from the Forest Hill area be considered first but it is not limited to only Forest Hill area students.
  • Alexandria Business Foundation Scholarships

    Shall be awarded to full time students with declared majors in the LSUA Business Department who have maintained at least a minimum of 2.5 GPA overall.
  • Helen M. Armstrong, R.N. Scholarship in Nursing

    The scholarship shall be awarded to a student who is a resident of Central LA with a declared major in LSUA Nursing Department. The recipient must have academic excellence and have unmet financial needs.
  • Better Business Bureau Serving Central Louisiana and the Ark-La-Tex Scholarship

    The scholarship shall be awarded to a fulltime student majoring in business administration and also interested in pursuing an MBA who has an overall GPA of 3.0 or greater.
  • LSUA Staff Senate Scholarship

    Must be current staff member at LSUA.
  • Bill Lewis Scholarship

    The scholarship shall be awarded to those individuals as full time students who demonstrate financial need and do not qualify for federal financial aid.

    The scholarship shall be awarded to a student who is at least a sophomore who has at least a 3.0 GPA and is interested in a pre-law degree area of study.

    The scholarship shall be awarded to a first time full time freshman who has financial need and who has an overall high school grade point average of 2.5 or greater.

    The scholarship shall be awarded to a full time student who is majoring in Criminal Justice; has earned 60 or more semester hours of accredited university hours; has completed at least 9 hours of Criminal Justice credits; and has an overall grade point average of 2.25 or greater.

    The scholarship shall be awarded to Junior and Senior Education majors who are on a clear and solid path to graduation and have an overall grade point average of 3.0 or greater.

  • Joe Daniels Memorial Scholarship

    It is preferred that the scholarship shall be awarded to a full time continuing student with financial needs who is majoring in chemistry; a biology major may be awarded the scholarship if a chemistry major is not eligible. If either a chemistry or biology major is not eligible, then a science major may be awarded the scholarship. The student will also have earned 30 or more semester hours of accredited university hours; will have completed at least 6 hours of chemistry or biology credits; and has an overall grade point average of 2.50 or greater.

    The scholarship is awarded through a competitive process in the spring. Scholarship recipients will be named "Mulder Scholars"
  • Greater Central La Realtors Association Scholarship

    The Scholarship shall be awarded to full-time 2nd year (or higher) student majoring in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing. The student will also have earned 30 or more semester hours of accredited university hours and have an overall grade point average of 2.5 or greater.
  • Cody J. Hamilton Scholarship

    The scholarship shall be awarded to a full-tim student who has an overall 2.75 grade point average or higher and is recognized as an active member of BOLD.
  • Ina Gerow Cowen Art Scholarship

    The scholarship shall be awarded to a full-time 2nd year (or higher) student majoring in Art. The student will also have earned 30 or more semester hours of accredited university hours and have an overall grade point average of 2.0 or greater.
  • Bill and Frances Herrington Endowed Scholarship in Education

    This scholarship will be awarded annually to a full-time student enrolled at LSUA who is majoring in Education and has obtained at least 60 credit hours with a 2.5 cumulative GPA.
  • Benjamin M. Rougeou Scholarship in Visual and Performing Art

    This scholarship shall be awarded to a full-time student admitted to a major with a focus on Visual and Performing Arts who has an overall grade point average of 2.5. Preference will be given to students with no other grant, or scholarship at the time of the award.
  • Central Louisiana Master Gardener Scholarship

    Must be a full-time student and maintain a GPA of 2.5 or greater. Student must have completed 30 hours of course work preferably the student would have an interest in horticulture, agriculture or other plant related field. Prefer community service work experience and financial need
  • The Priscilla Roy Jeansonne Scholarship in Nursing-Honoring the memory of Horace & Morgan Jeansonne

    The scholarship shall be awarded to a full-time 2nd year (or higher) student majoring in Nursing. The student should be a resident of Avoyelles Parish and be a registered Licensed Practical Nurse. The student should have earned 30 or more semester hours of accredited university hours and have an overall grade point average of 2.5 or greater. Preference will be given to a student who is working a minimum of 24 hours a week.
  • Scott O. Brame/La Charities Clinical Nursing Scholarship

    The scholarship is available to full-time clinical nursing students after successful completion of required first semester nursing courses.
    Eligibility criteria includes a cumulative GPA of 2.7, enrolled full time in clinical nursing courses and documented financial need. Students will also be required to write a personal essay that highlights their motivation to pursue a career in nursing.

    The scholarship shall be awarded to a first time full-time freshman student who is entering as pre-Nursing; has financial need; and an overall grade point average of 2.7 or greater.

    The scholarship shall be awarded to a first time, full time freshman student who is majoring in Arts, Literature, Humanities or related field; has financial need; and an overall grade point average of 2.7 or greater.

    The scholarship shall be awarded to a first-time full-time freshman student who is entering as pre-Nursing; has financial need; and an overall grade point average of 2.7 or greater.

    The scholarship shall be awarded to a first time, full time freshman student who is majoring in Arts, Literature, Humanities or related field; has financial need; and an overall grade point average of 2.7 or greater.
  • The Neil and Sarah Klock Kiwanis Scholarship

    The scholarship will be awarded to an entering freshman who has shown academic ability, has financial need and maintained a cumulative High School GPA of at least 2.75. The recipient shall be a graduate of a Rapides Parish high school. Preference will be given to Key Club members and to children, grandchildren, and/or great grandchildren of members of the Kiwanis Club of Alexandria.
  • John and Juanita Bradas Business Administration Scholarship

    The scholarship shall be awarded to a full-tim 2nd year (or higher) student majoring in Business Administration. The student will also have earned 30 or more semester hours of accredited university hours and have an overall grade point average of 2.5 or greater.
  • The Darrel Ryland Endowed Scholarship

    The scholarship will be awarded to a full time LSUA student who graduated from a central La high school with a preference for students from Avoyelles Parish. The student is a continuing student in any discipline and has shown academic ability and perseverance (GRIT). The student should have financial need.
