New History Scholarship Created at LSUA

Following his death, McInnis’ estate bequeathed approximately $34,000 to the LSUA Foundation for the establishment of an endowed scholarship in History known as the Richard A. McInnis Endowed Scholarship in History.

The scholarship will be awarded to a full-time student enrolled at LSUA who is majoring in History, has financial need, and shows academic excellence.

McInnis proudly served his country in the United States Navy as Chief Petty Officer from 1940 to 1950 and the United States Air Force as an Air Traffic Control Supervisor and Facility Chief from 1957 until his retirement as a Master Sergeant in 1970. McInnis was a veteran of World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War.

The scholarship will be awarded for the first time for the Fall 2017 semester.
